Arturo Solano Hand-Turned Ron Ron Burlwood Bowl – Signed, 11" Diameter
Beautifully hand-turned burlwood bowl by Arturo Solano, a noted third-generation Costa Rican wood artisan recognized for transforming reclaimed tropical hardwoods into sculptural vessels. Signed on the underside “Arturo Solano. Costa Rica.” This piece is crafted from a richly grained Ron Ron (Rum Rum) burlwood—a tropical hardwood native to Costa Rica (Calophyllum longifolium). The natural form is highlighted by a dark, polished interior with visible growth rings and an organically contoured live edge showing intricate burl textures. Solano is known for designing his own equipment to turn and shape salvaged tree roots and fallen timber, allowing each creation to retain the wood’s natural energy and sculptural character.
