Impressive Tarahumara Terracotta Drum with Sinew Lacing and Wood Stand, 22"
Rooted in the rugged landscapes of northern Mexico, this Tarahumara terracotta drum reflects centuries of indigenous craft tradition. Hand-formed from clay and bound with sinew, its bulbous vessel body rests on a tripod wood stand — a structure both functional and symbolic. Drums like this were used by the Tarahumara (Rarámuri) people in ceremonies, where rhythmic sound carried across mountain canyons to mark gatherings, rituals, and celebrations.
