Pair of Hand-Painted Clay Catrinas – Mexican Folk Art, 17" & 15"

Charming pair of hand-crafted and hand-painted clay “Catrina” figures, inspired by the iconic Día de los Muertos imagery. Each figure features a removable head for safe transport and detailed skeletal features adorned with elegant dresses and wide-brimmed hats. The purple Catrina wears a fitted gown with red and floral trim, while the black Catrina is accented with green leaves and intricate silver embellishments. Together they showcase the vivid artistry and humor of traditional Mexican folk sculpture.

Condition

In fair condition overall. Both figures show chips along the base and scattered touch-ups to the paint. The purple-dressed Catrina is missing five fingers and displays minor surface wear. The black Catrina shows small losses to the paint at the lower hem and light rubbing consistent with age. Both remain stable and display well.
