Monumental Mexican Pineapple Ponchera w/ 6 Jarritos, 27" Tall
A monumental Mexican pineapple pottery ponchera from San José de Gracia, Michoacán, attributed to the workshop of renowned artisan Pedro Hernández. Exceptionally large at 27 inches tall, this dramatic hand-built vessel features a richly textured pineapple body in warm honey-orange glaze, surrounded by eight matching jarritos and supported on three sculpted legs. The impressive lidded crown rises in tiered, deep-green leaves—an iconic sculptural flourish associated with Michoacán’s finest ceramic tradition.
These boldly scaled pineapple forms symbolize hospitality and abundance and are prized by collectors for their craftsmanship and exuberant presence. With its commanding proportions, meticulous detail, and complete set of eight cups, this is a standout example suitable for display as a statement centerpiece in a curated interior, bar, or folk-art collection.
