20th C. Native American–Style Bow & Arrow Display w/ Beads & Horsehair
This 20th-century Native American–style bow-and-arrow display features materials and construction consistent with decorative Plains-inspired wall pieces produced for the Southwestern and Western art market. Crafted from wood, sinew, braided leather, antler, glass and wood beads, and horsehair, the bow shows bold red-and-black beaded bands and tightly wrapped sinew along the limbs, while the crossed arrows incorporate large feather fletching and horsehair drops for dramatic visual effect. The antler points and uniformly smoothed arrow shafts further support its creation as a stylized display object rather than a functional weapon.
A substantial piece at over three feet wide, it presents strongly as lodge, cabin, or Western décor while honoring traditional forms. This example reflects the type of craft-market work popular from the mid- to late 20th century, possibly Native-made but intended for decorative use.
