Macomb Pottery Co. & Duffy Stoneware Jars w/ Zinc Lids, Early 1900s
Offered as a two-piece lot, this pair of early 20th-century stoneware jars represents two desirable forms in American utilitarian ceramics. The smaller jar is stamped MACOMB POTTERY CO. (Macomb, Illinois, c.1893–1906) and features a straight-sided body with Albany slip shoulder and its period Ball-marked zinc lid. The larger jar carries an incised DUFFY mark, associated with Duffy-branded household and medicinal goods of the early 1900s, and is fitted with a period zinc screw lid of Ball type.
Together, the jars present a strong combination of a clearly stamped regional maker and a larger, hand-incised branded example. An appealing duo for collectors of Midwestern stoneware, early pantry goods, or product-marked ceramics.
CONDITION
Both jars are in good condition with light surface wear and typical firing irregularities for the era. No remarkable damage noted. Zinc lids on both jars are intact, functional, and thread properly.
