Red Wing Union Stoneware 3-Gallon Crock w/ Early Wing & Oval Stamp
This early Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. 3-gallon crock dates to approximately 1910–1925, produced after the 1906 merger that introduced the “Red Wing Union Stoneware Co.” oval stamp. It features the classic slender brushed wing, a style associated with earlier Red Wing output, along with a crisp blue stenciled “3” and a clear oval maker’s mark. The buff-colored salt-glazed exterior and Albany-slip interior are consistent with Red Wing forms of this era.
A desirable example for collectors, the combination of the wing, capacity mark, and fully legible oval stamp represents the most sought-after decorative variant. Suitable for display in farmhouse, Americana, or country interiors, this piece captures the craftsmanship and utilitarian design Red Wing is known for.
CONDITION
In good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. A small rim chip is present (see photos), along with minor glaze flecks, spotting, and surface rubs typical of early Red Wing stoneware. Markings remain sharp and well-defined.
