Description

Uhl Pottery Acorn Wares Stoneware Jug w/ Brown Top & Blue Shield Stamp

This 1-gallon Uhl Pottery Co. “Acorn Wares” jug offers an engaging look into early 20th-century Midwestern stoneware. Made in Huntingburg, Indiana, the Acorn line represented Uhl’s branded premium ware, identified by the distinctive blue acorn-shaped shield featured on this piece. Its classic two-tone construction—salt-glazed stoneware base with a dark brown Albany-slip top—reflects the durable craftsmanship Uhl produced between 1915 and 1930.

Highly regarded for their regional character and strong maker’s marks, Uhl jugs remain a favorite among collectors of Americana and Indiana pottery. This example displays well with its compact form, intact handle, and clear stamp, making it an appealing addition to any stoneware collection.

CONDITION

In good vintage condition overall, showing light wear consistent with age. No notable damage is observed, and the handle, top glaze, and blue acorn stamp remain intact and clear. Small glaze irregularities and minor surface marks are present, typical of handmade stoneware.
