Description

Singer Model 27-1 Treadle Machine in Cabinet No. 5, 1900

This Singer Model 27-1 treadle sewing machine, serial 16670553, was manufactured January 18, 1900 (Singer production records), placing it firmly in the c.1900 period. It retains its original Victorian floral decals, long-bobbin vibrating shuttle, and early oval Singer badge. Housed in the ornate Cabinet No. 5, this example features carved oak drawer fronts and the classic cast-iron SINGER treadle base. Period attachments are included, as shown.

The Model 27 series reflects Singer’s early shuttle technology and is valued today for its historical significance and collectible appeal. With its distinctive cabinet and confirmed 1900 production date, this piece offers strong provenance and restoration potential.

CONDITION

FOR RESTORATION. In fair condition with heavy finish wear to the machine and cabinet. Several drawers show damage, chips, and missing parts, and the cabinet top has significant surface wear. The machine is partially functional and will require full servicing. The cast-iron base is in good condition, though one caster is missing. Please review all photos for details.
