Baker Modern Lacquer Tall Chest, Prototype w/ Gold Base
Striking modern tall chest attributed to Baker Furniture, believed to be a prototype or extremely limited-release model from the 1980s, consigned by the original owner. The chest features a high-gloss lacquer finish with gently radiused edges and six smooth-operating drawers on heavy-duty ball-bearing rails. A reflective gold-tone pedestal base adds sculptural contrast, enhancing the refined, postmodern aesthetic.
Unmarked, consistent with showroom samples and pre-production pieces, this chest represents a rare example of Baker’s modern lacquer design work. Exceptional for bedrooms, dressing spaces, or contemporary interiors seeking a bold yet sophisticated focal point.
CONDITION
In good condition with light scuffs primarily to the sides and base, along with other signs of use. A small 1/16" lacquer chip is present on the top right corner of the lowest drawer. The high-gloss finish presents well overall, and all drawers operate smoothly on their heavy-duty rails.
