This Navajo Ramone Platero Sterling Natural Turquoise & Mother of Pearl Necklace 19.5" is a documented work by Diné silversmith Ramone (Ramon) Platero, signed R. PLATERO and marked HAND MADE on the back of the center pendant. Crafted in tested sterling silver, it features a single strand of hand-made bench beads leading to five drop pendants, each set with a cabochon of natural turquoise paired with a carved mother-of-pearl leaf.
The pendants are framed in sterling silver with leaf-inspired overlays, a hallmark of Platero’s organic, nature-based design style. At 19.5" in length, the necklace sits comfortably at the collarbone on most wearers, with the center pendant adding an additional 2" drop. The contrast of rich turquoise, iridescent mother of pearl, and warm, unpolished patina gives this piece a classic Southwestern presence that is both highly wearable and desirable to collectors of Native American jewelry.
Condition
Necklace is in good vintage condition with no noted damage or repairs. The natural turquoise and carved mother-of-pearl elements appear secure in their settings, and the traditional hook clasp functions properly.
