Amado Peña Limited Edition Ceramic Tile #48/100
Limited edition ceramic tile artwork by celebrated Southwestern artist Amado Maurilio Peña Jr. (American, b. 1943), numbered 48/100 and signed “amado” in glaze at upper right. Peña, an enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona, is acclaimed for his bold geometric style and vibrant depictions of Native and Hispanic heritage. This composition portrays two figures in traditional dress carrying earthenware vessels, rendered in Peña’s signature palette of rich red, tan, turquoise, and black. The design captures the artist’s modernist interpretation of indigenous culture and craftsmanship through rhythmic linework and color contrasts.
Professionally framed in a reflective gold-tone frame, this rare ceramic edition complements Peña’s well-known serigraphs and lithographs, representing a distinctive facet of his artistic output.
Condition:
Good condition overall. The tile surface shows excellent gloss and coloration with no visible cracks or chips. The gold-tone frame has noticeable scratches and wear from handling. The backing paper is torn along one edge, as shown in photos.
