Description

Leinbrock’s Kretzschmar Coffee Grinder — German Wood & Brass Hand Mill, ca. 1920–1930

Early 20th-century Leinbrock’s Kretzschmar hand-crank coffee grinder, a fine example of traditional German craftsmanship. Featuring a dovetailed wood case with warm honey tone and a brass grinding dome, the piece retains its original metal maker’s badge marked “Leinbrock’s Kretzschmar.” The curved iron crank arm with a turned wooden handle drives the internal steel burrs, while a small drawer below collects the freshly ground coffee.

The Leinbrock company, active in Germany from the late 19th century, produced high-quality domestic grinders recognized for their durability and precision. Models like this are predecessors to the later Leinbrock’s Ideal line, often registered under D.R.G.M. patents in the 1920s and 1930s. An appealing collectible for vintage kitchenware enthusiasts or as a rustic display accent with genuine European heritage.

Condition:

Good overall condition with age-appropriate wear. The wood shows scattered marks and light surface losses; brass top displays mild patina and tarnish consistent with age. The handle turns smoothly, and the drawer fits securely. Presents well and remains structurally sound.
