Description

Mexican Folk Art Hand Carved Painted Wooden Cross

This hand-carved and hand-painted wooden cross is a traditional Mexican folk art devotional piece. Finished in a black ground, it features vibrant floral motifs painted by hand in bold reds, blues, greens, pinks, and yellows, arranged vertically along the shaft and across the crossarms. The folk-style flowers and dotted accents reflect classic Mexican decorative techniques.

The cross stands on a stepped rectangular base and is designed for tabletop or altar display. A felt-lined bottom protects surfaces and includes a “Hecho en Mexico” label, confirming its origin as a Mexican import. Both decorative and devotional, this piece makes a strong addition to a folk art, religious, or cultural collection.

Condition

In good condition with light surface wear consistent with age and hand craftsmanship. No damage observed. The structure remains solid, and the painted decoration retains strong color throughout.
