Authentic Navajo Tree of Life weaving by Mary Kee of Many Farms, Arizona, accompanied by its original Hubbell Trading Post certificate of genuineness. Handwoven in wool, the composition depicts a stylized Tree of Life emerging from a ceremonial basket, with eight birds perched among green branches—imagery symbolizing harmony, balance, and continuity in Diné tradition.
The rug features a stepped border in rose, tan, and brown tones, with carefully controlled geometry and color placement. The weave density measures approximately 20 warps per inch and 12 wefts per inch, reflecting a finely executed pictorial textile consistent with mid-20th-century Navajo weaving standards. The original Hubbell documentation, bearing the weaver’s handwritten name, confirms provenance and authenticity.
Condition
In very good condition overall, with tight, even weaving and strong structural integrity. One side shows slight color variation consistent with long-term UV exposure, most noticeable along the outer field, while the opposite side retains deeper saturation. No holes, repairs, or fraying observed. Original woven end cords intact. Hubbell Trading Post certificate included.
