Roy Johnston - 'Enclosure' - Original Acrylic Painting
Roy Johnston (b. 1936)
“Enclosure,” 1999
Acrylic on Paper | Visible: 24.5 x 18 in. | Overall: 32 x 24 in.
Roy Johnston’s “Enclosure” (1999) is a compelling exploration of form and space, where structured geometry meets painterly intuition. Interlocking planes of deep umber, violet, and green create a rhythmic tension — a visual architecture that both confines and liberates. Layers of acrylic give depth and texture, while Johnston’s measured brushwork reveals an instinctive balance between order and expression. Signed and dated lower right, this piece represents a mature statement from a distinguished voice in contemporary abstraction.
