1996 Matchbox Gold Collection Set of 2 – Ltd 1 of 5,000 Each, Sealed
Presented is a pair of 1996 Matchbox Gold Collection die-cast models, including the Mitsubishi Spyder (No. 42829) and Mercedes 500SL (No. 42753) — both part of the limited 5,000-piece worldwide edition.
Each model is factory sealed in its original display case, complete with a red flocked base, gold-tone medallion, and official signed certificate from Gene Murtha, Senior Vice President of Matchbox Marketing. These 1:64-scale cars were cast in Thailand and assembled for display packaging in China, representing the high-quality craftsmanship of Matchbox’s mid-1990s collector series.
A premium two-piece lot from Matchbox’s sought-after Gold Collection — ideal for display or as a cornerstone in any vintage die-cast collection.
Condition:
Both models are new and sealed. Clear plastic display cases show light scuffing and minor shelf wear but remain clear, intact, and protective. Certificates and medallions are visible inside.
