Tony Hillerman First Edition Lot (4) — A Thief of Time, Talking God, Coyote Waits, The Fallen Man
Collection of four hardcover first editions by Tony Hillerman, all from his celebrated Leaphorn & Chee Navajo Tribal Police mystery series. Titles include A Thief of Time (1988), Talking God (1989), Coyote Waits (1990), and The Fallen Man (1996). These novels represent the mid-career period of Hillerman’s work, blending Navajo culture, Southwestern archaeology, and masterful detective storytelling that brought him international acclaim.
A Thief of Time—the eighth in the series—became a New York Times bestseller and is praised for its archaeological intrigue and moral complexity. Talking God (ninth) takes Leaphorn and Chee to Washington, D.C., while Coyote Waits (tenth) earned the 1991 Nero Award and was later adapted for PBS’s Mystery! television series. The Fallen Man (twelfth) revisits the mesas of the Four Corners, weaving together mystery, tradition, and the enduring spirit of the landscape. Each volume features the striking dust-jacket art of Peter Thorpe, whose symbolic designs reflect the novels’ cultural and spiritual depth.
Condition:
All volumes are in very good condition overall. Dust jackets show light shelf wear and minor rubbing, primarily along edges and corners. The metallic and matte finishes retain strong color and sheen. Bindings remain tight, pages bright and unmarked, and interiors clean with no inscriptions or remainder marks. A handsome, well-preserved group for collectors of Southwestern or mystery fiction. Please review photos for detailed condition.
Dimensions:
Each volume approximately 9.5 x 6.5 inches.
