Description

Georgia O’Keeffe (1976) & Georgia O’Keeffe / Alfred Stieglitz (1978) — First Edition Viking Press Pair with Dust Jackets & Sleeve

Offered here is a pair of landmark first edition volumes celebrating the life and art of Georgia O’Keeffe, published by Viking Press. The 1976 Georgia O’Keeffe monograph, conceived and written by the artist herself, features over 100 color and black-and-white reproductions spanning her career—from early abstractions to her iconic Southwestern landscapes. This volume remains the definitive visual statement of O’Keeffe’s own artistic vision.

Accompanying it is the 1978 Georgia O’Keeffe / Alfred Stieglitz folio, published in association with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Personally selected and introduced by O’Keeffe, it presents over fifty of Alfred Stieglitz’s remarkable portraits of her—an intimate visual record of one of modern art’s most influential partnerships. Both titles are large-format, richly printed, and historically significant cornerstones of American Modernism.

Condition:

Both volumes in very good to excellent condition overall. Georgia O’Keeffe (1976) shows light toning and minor edge wear to the cloth boards, with a clean dust jacket bearing a small ¼-inch tear. Georgia O’Keeffe / Alfred Stieglitz (1978) is bright and crisp, with its dust jacket intact and only light surface wear; the accompanying slipcase shows moderate handling wear but remains sturdy and protective. Interiors are clean and unmarked.

Dimensions:

Each approx. 14 x 10.5 inches (35.5 x 26.5 cm)

A superb and complementary first-edition pairing—O’Keeffe in her own words and through Stieglitz’s lens—documenting two sides of one of the most important creative relationships in 20th-century art. Complete with dust jackets and original sleeve, this set presents beautifully and is highly desirable among collectors and institutions alike.
