The Band 2xLP Lot — Brown Album STAO-132 + Stage Fright SW-425, 1st Press
Offered here is a vintage 2xLP lot featuring two original Capitol Records pressings by The Band — their groundbreaking 1969 self-titled release (The Band, STAO-132) and 1970's follow-up, Stage Fright (SW-425). Both are first U.S. pressings with green Capitol labels and period-correct inner sleeves.
The 1969 self-titled album, often called “The Brown Album,” includes legendary tracks such as The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and Up on Cripple Creek. Recognized as a cornerstone of Americana and roots rock, this LP was later added to the U.S. National Recording Registry for its cultural significance.
Stage Fright continues The Band’s legacy with a more introspective, rock-driven tone and features The Shape I’m In and Stage Fright. The original vibrant rainbow watercolor cover by Bob Cato and photography by Norman Seeff make it visually distinctive. Both albums reflect the group’s golden era and are essential to any serious vinyl collection.
Condition:
Both vinyl discs show moderate scuffing, light scratches, and visible dust (see detailed close-up images). Playback may include surface noise in quiet sections, though no warping or major defects observed. Jackets show minor edge wear and age-appropriate handling; the “Brown Album” has light ring wear and a seam-split inner sleeve, while Stage Fright has minor corner wear and a name written in ink (“Cato”) on the back cover. Inner sleeves included for both.
Dimensions:
Two standard 12-inch LPs. Shown with original inner sleeves for reference and scale.
