Description

Joni Mitchell – Song to a Seagull (1968, Reprise RS 6293) & Hejira (1976, Asylum 7E-1087) – Two Original LPs

A pair of original Joni Mitchell LPs spanning the early and mature phases of her legendary career.
Included are Song to a Seagull (1968, Reprise RS 6293), her debut studio album produced by David Crosby and recorded at Sunset Sound. This first pressing features the two-tone orange/tan Reprise label with W7 logo and Mitchell’s own artwork and handwritten lyrics inside the gatefold. Highlights include “Cactus Tree,” “Marcie,” and “Night in the City,” songs that established her poetic voice in the folk canon.

Also included is Hejira (1976, Asylum 7E-1087), a mid-career masterpiece exploring themes of travel and self-discovery. Featuring Jaco Pastorius and Larry Carlton, it includes “Coyote,” “Amelia,” and “Song for Sharon.” The gatefold sleeve showcases Norman Seeff’s evocative black-and-white photography and ranks among Mitchell’s most iconic covers.

A remarkable two-album offering that traces nearly a decade of evolution from introspective folk to jazz-inflected sophistication—essential for collectors of classic singer-songwriter vinyl.

Condition:

Song to a Seagull — Vinyl shows visible surface marks and light scuffs under direct light; retains good gloss with expected age wear. Jacket shows moderate edge wear and ring rub but clean artwork and readable spine. Graded VG (Very Good).
