Description

Arden Hosetosavit 1991 Black Alabaster Sculpture – Mother and Child

Carved in 1991 by Arden Hosetosavit, this striking black alabaster sculpture depicts a mother and child in a tender embrace. The figures are defined by smooth contours and incised linework, their forms emerging naturally from the richly veined stone. A turquoise inlay at the pendant adds a vivid accent, symbolizing life and protection. The reverse bears etched feather and spiral motifs, reflecting the artist’s connection to Native symbology.

Signed and dated on the reverse, this finely balanced piece exemplifies Hosetosavit’s ability to merge spiritual depth with sculptural simplicity, resulting in a deeply resonant and tactile work.

Dimensions: 11 x 7 x 3 inches
Weight: Approx. 12 lbs
Material: Black alabaster with turquoise inlay
Signed and dated: “Arden ’91 Hosetosavit” on reverse
Please Note: Soup for Scale in Photo
