Description

Pearl Grandfather Clock 1161-853H – Oak Case, Moon Dial, Brass Weights

Maker-marked Pearl Grandfather Clock, model 1161-853H, produced by Pearl Enterprises, Inc. of Memphis, Tennessee during the late 20th century. The cabinet is finely constructed of solids and veneers in a warm oak finish, featuring an arched bonnet top, beveled glass door, and brass hardware. The ornate brass dial displays raised Arabic numerals, decorative spandrels, and a rotating moon-phase calendar.

This example houses a German-made Hermle 1161-series cable-driven movement, offering triple chime melodies—Westminster, St. Michael, and Whittington—sounding on the hour and quarter hour. The clock retains its brass weights, pendulum, keys, and original documentation, including Pearl instruction manuals and promotional literature. Pearl clocks were assembled in Tennessee using imported German movements and are admired for their solid craftsmanship and timeless design.

Condition:

Runs briefly and chimes on the hour and quarter hour; adjustment or service is recommended. Minor chip near lower left magnetic closure, not visible when the door is closed. Light age-related wear throughout, but presents attractively overall with bright brass and clean interior.

Dimensions:

78" H x 23" W x 13.75" D
