Douglas Fulmer Stoneware & Copper Wall Sculpture — Signed '03, 23.5"
This hand-sculpted and hand-painted wall hanging by Douglas Fulmer is a stoneware and copper sculpture depicting a stylized elongated canine figure in a leaping arc. The central body is painted in deep blue-gray with diagonal geometric panels outlined in white, the glaze surface featuring deliberate fine crackle throughout. Both end sections are left in unglazed, coarse-textured terracotta-toned stoneware. Copper wire elements form the legs at each end, and a sculptural animal head with copper wire accents rises from one terminus. Two circular piercings punctuate the body. The artist's signature and date — "douglas F. '03" — are hand-inscribed on the underside.
Fulmer is a Carefree, Arizona studio artist known for stoneware sculpture inspired by Southwestern and Pueblo imagery, including spirit figures, wall dolls, and totemic animal forms. This piece is consistent with that body of work and is suitable for wall display.
CONDITION
Excellent. No breaks, chips, or repairs observed. Glaze crackle throughout the blue-painted section appears intentional and consistent with the artist's surface treatment.
