Description

Judi Hubbard Owl Lantern Sculpture 2001 – Whimsical Woodland Guardian Pottery

Signed Judi Hubbard hand-sculpted and painted pottery owl lantern, dated ©2001. This striking studio ceramic features a cylindrical body with pierced breast and body cutouts, removable owl-form top, and richly carved leaf, feather, and bark textures finished in warm brown and cream tones. The sculptural design blends folk-art charm with Southwestern studio pottery character, and when lit, the cutouts create a soft, inviting glow.

Judi Hubbard is an American studio artist associated with the Southwest, particularly Arizona and later New Mexico. Her known works include ceramic tiles, kachina figures, and functional pottery forms, often hand-built and decorated with earthy glazes and textured surfaces. Her pieces appear only occasionally on the secondary market, and sculptural works such as this owl lantern are less commonly encountered, adding to its appeal.

Condition:
In good condition overall and fully functional. One feather is absent, and two feathers have old repairs. Minor surface wear and small edge losses are present, primarily along the more delicate projecting elements. Displays very nicely.

Dimensions:
12 x 7 x 4.5 inches
