Antique K&IT Railroad Switch Lock & Key with Chain - Iron Working
Authentic antique railroad switch lock with original chain and brass key, attributed to the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad (K&IT). The solid iron lock features a classic riveted construction and heavy shackle, built for the rigors of early rail use. The brass key is stamped “K & IT,” “15,” and “83,” and appears consistent with Adlake manufacture—one of the most recognized railroad lock makers of the era.
Both rugged and evocative, this fully functional, tested lock offers a tangible connection to early American rail operations. The attached 13-inch chain enhances its originality and display appeal, making it a standout piece for collectors of railroadiana or industrial antiques.
Condition:
Good condition overall; fully functional and tested. The lock and chain show rust, oxidation, and surface wear consistent with age and long-term use. The brass key retains clear markings with light wear. An honest example with strong antique character.
Dimensions:
Lock: 3 1/2 x 3 inches
Chain: 13 inches
