S. Kirk & Son Sterling Repousse Desk Calendar — 925/1000, Complete 1893
Sterling silver desk calendar stand by Samuel Kirk & Son of Baltimore, Maryland, worked in dense all-over repousse with roses, sunflowers, daisies, and foliage in high relief. A hinged clip at the top accepts interchangeable monthly cards; the reverse carries an integrated easel bar stamped "S KIRK & SON," "925/1000," and "STERLING." Four corner mounts secure the card stack at the back of the frame.
The lot includes the sterling stand and a complete set of original double-sided calendar cards copyrighted 1893 (Cal. No. 71), printed by Whitehead-Hoag of Newark, NJ, along with a Samuel Kirk & Son promotional insert identifying the firm as "America's Oldest Silversmiths, Baltimore, Maryland — U.S.A."
CONDITION Good. The repousse floral work is fully intact and well-defined throughout. Overall surface tarnish is present — polishing is left to the buyer. Calendar cards show minor toning and light edge wear but remain complete and legible.
