Lighted Curio Cabinet — American of Martinsville, Vintage
A double-door lighted display cabinet by American of Martinsville, the Virginia-based manufacturer with over eight decades of American furniture production behind it. Maker-stamped on the reverse, the case is built in the Neoclassical manner with fluted corner pilasters, dentil molding along the cornice frieze, a bead-molded cornice edge, and an egg-and-dart carved band at the base. Canted octagonal corners lend the piece architectural weight, and brass fretwork door pulls in a lattice-and-diamond pattern serve as the cabinet's primary decorative accent.
Glass panels on both doors and sides allow unobstructed sightlines from all angles, while the mirrored back interior multiplies perceived depth. Four fully removable and adjustable glass shelves — each fitted with a plate rail — allow flexible configuration for china, collectibles, or decorative objects. Built-in interior puck lighting is functional and tested.
CONDITION
Good. The cabinet is fully functional with no remarkable damage; finish, glass, mirror, and hardware are all intact with gentle signs of use consistent with age. The interior lighting has been tested and operates.
