Vintage Nambe Lava Bowl 667 & 573 Aluminum MCM Set
Vintage Nambé serving bowls including the iconic Lava Bowl #667 and companion model 573, both exemplifying the brand’s signature sculptural mid-century modern style. The #667 features a dramatic, molten, freeform silhouette - one of Nambé’s more recognizable designs —while the 573 offers a smaller, complementary form with the same smooth, organic curves.
Both pieces are crafted from Nambé’s proprietary sand-cast aluminum alloy, hand-finished to a reflective surface. The undersides are marked “Nambe 667” and “Nambe 573,” consistent with late 20th-century production. Designed as functional sculpture, these bowls serve equally well as elegant tableware or display pieces, with the smaller 573 often paired alongside larger statement forms like the Lava Bowl.
Condition:
In good vintage condition with visible scratches, scuffs, and signs of use throughout. Surface wear is consistent with age and typical for Nambé alloy. Shelf wear present; polishing has been left to the next owner. No major dents or structural damage observed.
Dimensions:
Model 667: 2 1/2 x 8 x 6 inches
Model 573: 2 x 5 1/2 x 4 inches

Founded in 1953 in New Mexico, Nambé is known for its innovative alloy and sculptural approach to serveware. Pieces are sand-cast and hand-finished, giving each example subtle uniqueness. The metal is prized for its durability, heat retention, and ability to be restored to a high polish, contributing to the lasting appeal and collectibility of vintage Nambé designs.
