Late 19th C. Black Painted Corner Cabinet w/ Glass Door & Drawer
Late 19th- to early 20th-century black-painted corner cabinet featuring a glazed door flanked by mirrored panels, three adjustable interior shelves, and a single dovetailed drawer fitted with brass pulls. The design displays rope-turned corner columns, molded cornice with carved rope detail, and paneled sides, resting on small wood casters. The original black-painted finish and traditional joinery suggest Victorian or transitional Edwardian craftsmanship, combining formal decorative elements with rustic practicality.
A versatile and visually striking piece—ideal for displaying china, glassware, or collectibles. The cabinet reflects the charm and authenticity of a true period furnishing, likely made for a domestic dining or sitting room setting.
Condition
Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The original black-painted finish shows rubbing, chips, scratches, and scattered paint loss. Age cracks visible in several panels, particularly near the back and interior top. Lock mechanism has been removed; key absent. Minor separations and touch-ups noted, with some added hooks to the interior. Structurally sturdy and functional, displaying authentic patina and age character throughout.
