Cobalt Blue Hand-Blown Art Glass Vase — Swirl Optic, Applied Feet
A hand-blown cobalt blue art glass vase built around a full-height diagonal swirl optic — the ribbing catches light in shifting planes as the piece is turned. The cylindrical body narrows toward the base, where four applied feet terminate in crimped, ruffled edges, a finishing technique that demands considerable skill at the torch. Scattered air bubbles throughout the walls and a spiral pontil mark at the interior base confirm free-blown construction. Color saturation is deep and consistent throughout.
No signature or maker's mark is present. The form and applied-foot treatment are consistent with late 19th- to early 20th-century Venetian or Bohemian production, though attribution remains unconfirmed.
CONDITION Excellent. No chips, cracks, repairs, or damage of any kind. Color is vivid and fully intact; applied feet are solid with no stress fractures.
