3 Large Vintage Wood Fishing Plugs — Atom Bob Pond, Red Head, Marlin
Lot of three large-format vintage American hand-painted carved wood fishing plugs. The largest is a Red Head lure — a 9-inch red head / cream body torpedo with two treble hooks and a single tail hook, built for no-lip topwater fishing at musky or striper scale. The second is an Atom plug by Bob Pond, the 8¾-inch yellow and pink blush saltwater torpedo with nose propeller spinner — a design that built its reputation targeting striped bass off the New England coast beginning in the 1940s. The third is a Marlin wooden plug in a detailed multi-color scale finish with green, yellow, and orange body, red gill markings, and a large amber glass eye.
All three sold together as shown.
CONDITION
Good overall, with age-appropriate wear throughout. All three bodies are intact with no breaks or cracks. The Red Head and Atom plugs show moderate to heavy paint chipping, surface scratching, and paint loss consistent with hard use; the Atom's treble hooks carry light surface rust. The Marlin retains the strongest paint of the three but is missing its hooks.
