Description

22 lb Natural Quartz Crystal Point — Matrix Base, Dark Inclusions

At more than twenty-two pounds, this single-termination rock crystal quartz is not a specimen you add to a collection — it is the piece a collection is organized around. The hexagonal prism faces are broad and cleanly defined, carrying natural growth striations the full length of the body before converging into a sharp, well-formed apex. The crystal body ranges from translucent to clear, with internal veils and fracture planes that catch light differently at every angle — not flaws in the geological sense, but the record of the crystal's growth over deep time. Scattered throughout the prism and continuing into the termination zone is a population of dark mineral inclusions, consistent with chlorite or tourmaline, that give this specimen a brooding interior depth absent in cleaner, more sterile examples. A secondary crystal emergence is present on the upper termination face — a natural regeneration feature that mineralogists call a self-healing event, evidence that this crystal survived geological disruption and kept growing.

The unworked matrix base grounds the entire piece: iron oxide staining in warm amber and rust tones, granular host rock, and patches of pink feldspar that confirm this crystal came out of the earth exactly as you see it. No cutting, no polishing, no intervention. It stands without a mount. Place it on a surface and it will hold that position — and the attention of anyone who enters the room — without assistance.

CONDITION

Very Good. The termination apex is intact and sharp, some mineral scatter and iron oxide staining throughout the base and lower body are intrinsic to the specimen.
