Slim Pickens' Choice "Hay in a Bag" Feed Sack — 1975 Western Americana
Long before feed sacks became collectibles, Ranchero Feeds of Dell City, Texas was printing them like posters. This 1975 Slim Pickens' Choice alfalfa bag is a flat, unfolded 50-lb. paper sack featuring a full-color lithograph portrait of the legendary rodeo cowboy and character actor — Stetson tilted, sun halo blazing gold behind him — above the tagline that made the brand: Hay in a Bag. The pun lands. The art holds up. Bold Western display lettering in red and gold, a galloping horse badge, and a palette of olive, black, and cream give this piece genuine graphic punch.
The reverse carries the full regulatory panel in a tag-shaped border — Guaranteed Analysis, ingredient declaration, and manufacturer block — alongside a Bancroft Bag freight stamp and the lot/date code 4875 / 7-75. Frame it, hang it, or file it: this one reads as Western Americana art from across the room.
CONDITION Very Good. Flat, unfolded, and uncut, with vivid print color that holds strong across the face. Ambient toning consistent with nearly 50 years of storage; small adhesive remnant at upper right corner of the front panel.
