Description

Thomasville Ernest Hemingway Hand-Painted Bombe Wardrobe Armoire

From Thomasville's prestigious Ernest Hemingway Collection, this bombe-form wardrobe armoire is finished in a warm antiqued gold with hand-painted pastoral landscapes across all four door panels and both sides. The scenes — rolling hills, a turreted château, dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and rocky riverbanks — are rendered in soft ochres, greens, and earthy tones within shaped cartouche panels framed by carved gilt-highlighted moldings. The cornice carries a centered flower-basket relief flanked by carved sprays; the apron features a shell-and-acanthus medallion; brass fretwork escutcheons dress the door stiles. The piece separates into three sections for transport and was made in the USA, circa the 1990s.

The interior is configured for wardrobe or linen storage, with a clothes rod, shelving, and drawers. Equally suited as a home entertainment cabinet. Extremely heavy — delivery available and recommended.

CONDITION

Fair. The armoire makes a strong visual impression at scale, but chipping, scratching, and scuffing are present across the exterior surfaces throughout. The left handle is absent.
