The effect is totemic and graphic, commanding at nearly 27 inches tall. Each piece stands on an integrated rectangular plinth, and the two face as mirrored figures. The decorative saddle cloth panel — carved with lotus scroll motifs, diagonal hatch-work flanking, and white dot borders — reflects Southeast Asian craft traditions consistent with Balinese or Javanese export carving, placing these firmly in the mid-to-late 20th century decorative trade that blended Western aesthetic forms with Indonesian hand-work.
