Description

Collins USN Hatchet & Plumb Victory Axe — 5-Pc Red Tool Lot

A five-piece group of American-made vintage hand tools, all finished in fire-department red with original wooden handles. The Collins USN hatchet carries both a Collins maker stamp and a U.S.N. (United States Navy) impressed mark, confirming military-surplus provenance. The Plumb Victory axe adds a second named American maker to the lot, and the Warren D-marked sledge/enom hammer rounds out the attributed pieces — three of five with confirmed maker identity. The two unmarked examples, a standard sledge and a claw hammer, share the same institutional red finish and service-worn character as the rest.

All five pieces present as a matched working group from a common service or institutional origin.

CONDITION Good. Honest signs of use and wear throughout — all five heads show chipping, flaking, and bare-metal exposure in the red paint; wooden handles are scratched, surface-checked, and grain-opened from use. The sledge handle retains significant tape/label residue and surface breakdown at the grip zone; the claw hammer handle has a paint-stripped patch at mid-shaft.
