Vintage Santo Domingo Silver Mother of Pearl Cluster Ring, Attr. Tony Aguilar
A bold and beautifully constructed cluster ring from Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo, attributed to master silversmith Tony Aguilar Sr. (1919–2002). Aguilar learned his craft from a Navajo jeweler while attending the Santa Fe Indian School, and that influence is evident throughout — nine oval mother of pearl cabochons, each individually set in hand-stamped sawtooth bezels, arranged in a tight rosette over a darkened silver base detailed with twisted rope wire at center and silver ball accents at the perimeter. The split shank is sturdy and well-proportioned to the face.
CONDITION
Good vintage condition. The silver carries a rich, deep patina consistent with age and use — an honest characteristic of the period, not a flaw.
