Persian Mahi-Tabriz Area Rug 6'9"×10' — Iran, c.2000
A room-size Iranian Mahi-Tabriz hand-knotted on a deep navy field, with the classic herati fish lattice running wall-to-wall at knot density high enough to hold crisp resolution at close range. The central medallion is a multi-tiered scalloped form in copper and rust, framed by ivory corner spandrels carrying the same mahi repeat into each quadrant. The main border runs a full floral vine in navy on ivory, flanked by multi-band guard stripes in red, gold, and sage — a palette that reads as formal without being rigid. Tabriz Mahi rugs in this colorway have long been called "the designer's carpet" in the trade, for their ability to anchor both traditional and transitional interiors without competing with the room. Origin: Tabriz region, Iran. Circa 2000. Assessed by Armen Dohanian
CONDITION
Good. Pile is full and even across the face with no staining, tears, rips, or odors. One side corner edge has come undone, and wear to the binding cord is present along both long sides — standard professional rug-repair issues that do not affect the pile or pattern face.
