Description

Talavera Ceramic Birdbath Mexico — Pedestal, 3 Bird Figures, Hand-Painted

A large two-piece Mexican Talavera ceramic birdbath comprising a flared pedestal base and a wide scallop-rimmed basin, both covered edge to edge in hand-painted polychrome decoration. The color palette runs deep cobalt blue at the base ring and collar, shifting to warm saffron grounds packed with red, orange, green, and violet floral and foliate scrollwork. Three modeled bird figures — red, yellow, and olive green — perch on the basin rim; the interior carries its own fully painted floral field. The underside bears a hand-painted MEXICO mark. Basin rests on pedestal; the two pieces separate for transport.

CONDITION

Good — colors remain vivid and the piece displays well. Signs of outdoor use are present: scattered mineral deposits on the basin interior and light surface wear consistent with garden display. No chips or cracks observed.
