A large carved and painted wood walking staff, this one-of-a-kind piece transforms a naturally curved branch and root into a full-length dragon in polychrome relief. The serpent's scaled body runs the length of the shaft, its yellow-eyed head rearing open-jawed at the neck — and at the crown, a carved human figure kneels in contemplation, cradling a painted Earth globe rendered in blue and green with handprint motifs. The base terminates in a naturally forked root carved and painted as a multi-toed reptilian talon, grounding the composition in a creature that seems drawn from the earth itself.

The iconography is deliberate and layered: dragon as elemental power, the human figure as steward, the globe with its pressed-hand imagery as a statement of shared responsibility. This is the visual language of American self-taught folk art — a singular cosmological vision executed in wood, paint, and fire.
