Cushman Colonial Creations Armchair — Saddle Seat, Slat Back, Bennington VT
Solid wood open-arm chair by Cushman Colonial Creations of Bennington, Vermont — one of New England's most accomplished mid-century furniture makers. The form sits squarely at the intersection of Windsor tradition and mid-century modernism: a deeply sculpted saddle seat, four dramatically splayed compass legs, open arms on turned supports, and a tall slat back anchored by a sweeping curved crest rail. The silhouette reads as comfortably at home in a Colonial revival setting as it does alongside Danish Modern or American studio furniture of the same era.
Marked on the underside with the oval "A Genuine Cushman Colonial Creation" metal medallion, the die-stamped mark "CUSHMAN," and production number 1577.
CONDITION Good, Fully Functional, Tested, Sturdy, Normal Signs of Use. Minor finish wear and scattered nicks to the finish across the seat surface, seat edge, and crest rail.
