Antique Red Leather Fauteuil Armchair — French Régence, Carved Mahogany, Nailhead

A deeply carved antique fauteuil in the French Régence manner, upholstered in full-grain crimson leather with continuous silver-tone nailhead trim along the seat apron, back perimeter, and arm junctions. The mahogany frame commands attention: the apron carries a central shell-and-acanthus cartouche flanked by basketweave panels and foliate scrolls, the cabriole legs are carved with pendant husks and terminate in scroll feet, and the curved X-stretcher is pierced and carved at its center — all executed with a crispness consistent with 18th or early 19th-century European craft. The arched padded back and open scrolled arms follow the generous Régence proportion, wide in the seat and authoritative in scale.

The full-grain leather covers seat, inside back, outside back, and arm pads uniformly in crimson throughout.

CONDITION Very Good. Leather is conditioned and in good condition. The carved mahogany frame is intact and structurally sound with no missing elements; scroll feet show normal finish wear at floor contact. Minor scuffs to the leather surface; no tears or rips.
