Antique Alabaster Plant Stand Pedestal with Polychrome Acanthus Carving
Substantial hand carved alabaster pedestal with a removable 1.25" thick circular top resting over a carved acanthus leaf collar picked out in soft green polychrome. The fluted baluster shaft tapers between ringed collars to a turned socle and octagonal stepped base, the natural stone showing veining in cream, blush, and amber tones throughout.
CONDITION
Good overall with the polychrome highlights still vivid against the stone. Surface scratches and minor chips throughout consistent with age and use, including a notable edge chip to the underside of the top disc and small losses near the base (see supplemental images). Plant shown in photos is sold separately.
