Art Deco Chrome & Bakelite Serving Set, Handled Basket & Sandwich Tray
A two-piece Machine Age service in polished chrome with red and butterscotch Bakelite accents. The handled bowl rides on a swing-arm wire frame anchored by twin cherry-red Bakelite spheres, while the larger oval sandwich tray features a central reeded red Bakelite ring centered on a butterscotch ball — both pieces unmarked but consistent with American Art Deco production circa 1930s, with the ribbed and stepped border detail typical of Chase-era streamline design.
CONDITION
Good overall with strong reflective chrome surfaces and intact Bakelite hardware. Surface shows light scratching and utensil wear consistent with period use, with scattered pitting and minor oxidation visible on the larger tray near the rim. Bakelite elements are solid with age-appropriate patina.
