Description

Tom Thumb Cash Register Toy by Cinderella Mfg. Co. — Green Pressed Steel

Before the beep of a barcode scanner, there was the satisfying clang of a toy bell and the snap of a coin tray springing open. This Tom Thumb cash register by Cinderella Manufacturing Company captures that mid-century corner-store fantasy in glossy emerald pressed steel — the kind of toy that turned a kitchen counter into a soda fountain and a stack of pennies into a working day's till. Twelve cream denomination keys (5¢ through $1.00) and a red "No Sale" button drive the spring-loaded mechanism, popping the chrome coin drawer with its four divided wells and triggering the internal bell.

Flag-style price indicators rise behind the curved viewing window with each press, and the underside still wears its original Tom Thumb label marked Cinderella Mfg. Co., Patent No. 1906361. The referenced patent issued in 1933, and Cinderella Mfg. Co. of Brooklyn produced these registers from the mid-1930s into the early 1950s; styling and key configuration here are consistent with a late 1940s to early 1950s production run.

CONDITION

Very Good and fully functional, tested. All mechanics are operational — drawer opens, keys depress, bell rings on command. Normal age-appropriate wear including light surface scratching to the enamel and scattered rust speckling on the chrome till face and apron.
