Lladró #5802 "Elegant Promenade" Large Porcelain Figurine - Lady with Borzoi & Afghan Hound
Lladró model #5802, "Elegant Promenade," sculpted by Juan Huerta and introduced in 1991 — a tall, sweeping composition capturing the silhouette of a 1920s flapper out for a stroll with two sighthounds. The lady wears a cloche-influenced wide-brimmed hat trimmed with a ribbon and porcelain rosette, a sleeveless lavender bodice scattered with stylized blue florets, and a pastel skirt with a blush sash that pools into elongated drapery characteristic of Lladró's signature attenuated figural style. At her side, a Borzoi steps forward in alert profile while an Afghan Hound stands sentinel, both rendered with finely modeled coats, painted collars, and miniature leather and braided cord leashes — a Lladró hallmark of mixed-media realism.
The underside carries the blue Lladró backstamp (Hand Made in Spain, dated 1990) along with the impressed model number 5802. A retired piece from the Lladró catalog, "Elegant Promenade" remains one of the maker's most recognizable large-format works depicting Jazz Age fashion.
CONDITION
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration noted. Original leather and braided cord leashes remain intact and supple. Light surface dust consistent with display.
