Gladys Goose Illuminated Blow Mold Lamp — 1982 Country Kitsch Icon

A standing illuminated blow mold goose lamp produced by Gladys Goose & Company, Inc. of 41 Madison Avenue, New York, registered trademark of the short-lived but distinctive licensing firm that capitalized on the early-1980s "country goose" decorating craze. The hollow molded body is finished in soft white with a hand-painted orange beak, yellow facial blush at the cheeks, and applied bead eyes, mounted over green and orange webbed feet on a dark green plastic disc base concealing the bulb socket and switch. Crisp molded detail to the wing feathers and tail distinguishes this example from the cruder garden-variety blow mold geese of the period.

Original manufacturer's label remains affixed beneath the base, dated December 1982 and marked E-75903 with a 25 watt maximum lamp specification. The internal bulb illuminates the body to a soft milky glow, and the original two-prong cord and plug have been tested fully functional.

CONDITION

Good and fully functional, tested working. Lightweight molded construction shows finish wear and paint loss throughout, including small white chips at the beak tip and rubs along the feet, with age-appropriate yellowing to the white body. Original maker's label is intact but toned and lightly worn at the edges.
