Niels O. Møller Model 71 Rosewood Dining Chair, J.L. Møller Denmark
Model 71 side chair designed by Niels Otto Møller in 1951 and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, Højbjerg, Denmark. The solid Brazilian rosewood frame displays the boldly figured grain and warm reddish-brown tones, sculpted into Møller's signature undulating backrest and raked tapered legs — a form that remains among the most recognizable of the Danish Modern canon. The seat is upholstered in black vinyl over a drop-in sprung platform. The underside of the seat frame bears the branded circular "J. Møller Models / Furnituremakers" quality control stamp — the mark used by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik to certify compliance with the Danish Furniture Makers' Quality Control standards — along with a stamped production number.
CONDITION
Good overall; frame is solid and structurally sound with rich rosewood figure intact on all surfaces. Vinyl seat presents acceptably from above with minor surface wear; the underside dust cover has a torn section with exposed webbing and a roughly 2–3" diagonal tear to the black fabric visible in the reference image. Light handling marks to the rear legs consistent with age and use.
