Mid-Century Brutalist Brass Bird Sculpture on Marble Plinth
Mid-century Brutalist brass sculpture depicting a stylized bird in flight, with a vertical body and two long, sweeping wings that taper to fine points. The surface is heavily worked throughout — hammered, gouged, and faceted to catch light along every plane — with a warm brown patina that breaks to lighter brass and faint verdigris on the high points.
Mounted atop a tall, narrow plinth of gray-and-white veined marble with dramatic banded striations, hand-honed faces, and softened arrises. Felt pads applied to the underside protect display surfaces. Sculpture is pinned and adhered to the top of the plinth and is sold as a single, fixed lot — base and bird do not separate.
CONDITION Good. The brass retains its original textured patina with no damage to the form. The marble plinth shows light surface scratches across multiple faces and a small chip with edge wear at one bottom corner of the base.
